Aligning strategy with execution using the Scaled Agile Framework

In this two-day workshop-style course, attendees gain the practical tools and techniques necessary to implement the Lean Portfolio Management functions of Strategy and Investment Funding, Agile Portfolio Operations and Lean Governance.

Participants in the course have the opportunity to capture the current and the future state of their portfolio with the Portfolio Canvas tool and identify important business initiatives for achieving the future state. Participants also explore methods to establish portfolio flow with the Portfolio Kanban and prioritize initiatives for maximum economic benefit. The course also provides insights on how to establish Value Stream Budgets and Lean Budget Guardrails and measure the Lean portfolio performance.

Your Instructor: Luke Hohmann

Founder and CEO of Tilliden, Inc., Luke Hohmann is a serial entrepreneur, an internationally recognized expert in Agile Software development, author, philanthropist, inventor of Innovation Games®, and collaboration expert.

A SAFe® Framework Contributor and Principal Consultant, Luke was Founder and CEO of Conteneo, Inc. (acquired by Scaled Agile, Inc.) where he worked with an extraordinary dev team to create the SAFe Collaborate Platform (Weave), Strategy Engine and Knowsy® collaboration platforms. While at Scaled Agile, Luke was the steward for the Agile Product Delivery (APD) and Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) competencies and was the primary SME for the POPM, APM, and LPM courses.

Luke is co-founder of Every Voice Engaged Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that helps citizens, governments and nonprofit organizations collaboratively solve problems that are unsolvable without civic engagement. EVEF has been a leader in the Participatory Budgeting movement, helping citizens prioritize hundreds of millions of dollars through Budget Games. In partnership with The Kettering Foundation (www.kettering.org), Conteneo created Common Ground for Action, the first scalable platform for deliberative decision-making.

Luke is the author of four books, numerous articles, and cited as an inventor on more than a dozen patents. Luke co-organized the first Agile conference in 2003, has served on the Board of the Agile Alliance and in partnership with the Scrum Alliance produced the “Collaboration at Scale”, the world’s largest monthly webinar devoted to helping organizations with 10 or more Scrum teams in 2 or more locations scale agility.

Luke has helped enterprises such as BMW, eBay, Cisco, Google, Daimler, RELX, Transamerica, United Technologies, Emerson, and BP administer more than $3B using Participatory Budgeting techniques, increasing business agility and improving business outcomes.

Luke graduated magna cum laude with a B.S.E. in computer engineering and an M.S.E. in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan. In addition to data structures and artificial intelligence, he studied cognitive psychology and organizational behavior.
