Jason Tanner, CEO & Co-Founder

Jason Tanner is the CEO of Applied Frameworks, a management consulting firm, and co-creator of Online Education at Applied Frameworks. Jason’s professional experience spans product management and marketing, business planning, partner management, project management and leadership. His passion is coaching people in organizations to develop products that customers love.

Jason mentors, teaches, facilitates and sometimes does the work to identify and apply the optimal frameworks for given situations. Lately he’s been focused on very large scale Agile adoptions and overcoming all of the obstacles thousands of people encounter when their world of work shifts. Jason has been Certified Scrum Trainer® since 2013.

Carlton Nettleton

Carlton Nettleton, Chief Product Owner

Carlton Nettleton is the Chief Product Owner at Applied Frameworks, a management consulting firm, and co-creator of Online Education at Applied Frameworks.   Carlton has over eighteen years of industry experience working with clients to improve quality, increase productivity, build great teams and launch new products using Agile software development practices and techniques.

Today, Carlton’s focus is directed at mentoring and supporting Scrum and Agile practitioners who work in less than ideal conditions.  He shares his energy and enthusiasm with our learners so they can achieve their personal and professional goals. Carlton is fluent in both English and Spanish, has written a short book on Scrum and has been Certified Scrum Trainer® since 2012.

Phil Gardiner

Phil Gardiner, SAFe Practice Leader & Executive Consultant

Phil Gardiner leads the SAFe Practice for Applied Frameworks and is responsible for mentoring change agents as they learn to apply the Scaled Agile Framework to achieve sustainable success through greater business agility.

Phil is a Certified SAFe Program Consultant Trainer® (SPCT), one of less than one hundred people who hold this certification globally.  He is an active collaborator within the Scaled Agile Community and is cited as a subject matter expert on a variety of topics including Lean Portfolio Management and Agile Product Management.

Kert Peterson

Kert Peterson, Principal Consultant

Kert Peterson is a Principal Consultant with Applied Frameworks, a management consulting firm that enables customers to develop and deliver great products.  His passion is adult learning and organizational design that supports optimal learning and growth.  Kert is a Certified Scrum Trainer and an Accredited Kanban Trainer®.

Kert began his career as a Software Engineer in NASA’s Space Shuttle program.  These roots as a “maker” afford him practical insights into the daily challenges faced by testers, engineers, and other creatives working together to develop high-tech products and services.  When Kert is not teaching, he likes to spend time playing mandolin and teaching tai chi.

Kim Poremski

Kim Poremski, Principal Consultant

Kim Poremski is a Principal Consultant with Applied Frameworks.  While she enjoys the coaching and mentoring aspects of her role, she has a true passion for teaching.  She brings her decades of IT, business analysis, and management experience in industries such as insurance, investments, banking, and healthcare to the classroom.

Kim helps students make the connection between “being” Agile and “doing” Agile by relating to the challenges her students face in the real world.  Students consistently give Kim high marks for her energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, and real world examples.

Joel Bancroft-Connors

Joel Bancroft-Connors, Principal Consultant

Joel Bancroft-Connors is a Principal Consultant at Applied Frameworks.  His passion is to unlock and maximize the inner potential of others.  He believes his roots in customer service, and its singular focus on serving the customer is where his enthusiasm for Agile comes from.

In the classroom, Joel combines his passion to unlock the potential of others with decades of theater and game design experience to create engaging workshops for the participants.  By leveraging his unique background, Joel can explain Scrum and Agile concepts in a way that ensures learners can immediately apply them to their professional lives. When he is not teaching, he spends time with his family in the Pacific Northwest.

Kevin Rosengren

Kevin Rosengren, Senior Vice President

Kevin Rosengren is a SVP and Engagement Director with Applied Frameworks. With almost twenty years as a product management professional, Kevin’s focus is on teaching product managers, product leaders and executives in developing deep, customer-centric Agile practices.

As a “Product Guy” with a proven track record of developing amazing products and great product managers, Kevin believes in combining great frameworks such as Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Agile practices to unleash the power of people to innovate quickly to deliver solutions with maximum business impact.  His workshops are high energy, challenging, and fun, and if you get to attend one of his sessions, you are likely to experience his memorable laugh.

Laura Richardson

Laura Richardson, Senior Vice President

Laura Richardson is the SVP of Sales at Applied Frameworks.  For almost a decade, Laura worked with Luke Hohmann, the author of the book Innovation Games®, to uncover customer needs, develop product roadmaps and increase strategic alignment across enterprises of all sizes.

Laura’s enthusiasm and skill in helping people learn how to use collaboration frameworks to better understand customer needs is infectious.  Laura brings her energy and years of experience with Luke to every class. Students appreciate that Laura uses all the techniques that she teaches and easily shares her experiences with every class.

John Mulligan

John Mulligan, Principal Consultant

John Mulligan is a Principal Consultant with Applied Frameworks, a management consulting firm.  John was first attracted to Agile after serving over ten years as a nuclear submarine officer.  Today, his passion is coaching people in organizations to develop products that customers love.

John’s experience spans software development, usability, management, and leadership development.  Lately, John has been focused on Business Agility adoptions and overcoming all of the obstacles thousands of people encounter when their world of work shifts.  Come hear him share these, and other stories, in our classes and workshops.

Bryan Vaughn

Bryan Vaughn, Consultant

Bryan Vaughn is a Consultant with Applied Frameworks. Bryan is a Certified SAFe® Program Consultant (SPC), as well as a Certified Release Train Engineer and Certified DevOps Practitioner. In addition to his SAFe expertise, Bryan is a Certified ScrumMaster and a Certified Professional Agile Coach.

Prior to joining Applied Frameworks, Bryan was an Enterprise Agile Coach at SAIC and AT&T. In his eight years at AT&T, he worked his way up from a technical role to become a leader in their Lean-Agile coaching team.

Luke Hohmann, Chairman & Co-Founder

Luke is the author of three books and numerous articles on software product management. His books include Innovation Games: Creating Breakthrough Products through Collaborative Play (2006), Beyond Software Architecture (2003) and Journey of the Software Professional (1996).

Luke is named as inventor on more than a dozen patents. He is a frequent keynote speaker at conferences such as Agile Alliance, CXPA, and the SAFe Summit.

Luke graduated magna cum laude with a B.S.E. in computer engineering and an M.S.E. in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan. In addition to data structures and artificial intelligence, he studied cognitive psychology and organizational behavior.
